'...Knowing you Jesus, knowing you, there is no greater thing...'
Annointed'Annointed' means given power from on high for purpose. It means being given the power and ability to do things that on our own we would have never been able to do.
...he has annointed me to preach the good news... Isaiah 61:1
I was reminded today that when I speak about Jesus to my friends at work, to the kids at kids club, or to the stranger on the bus, I am able to do so under a powerful annointing. Recognising this has made me so much more expectant for God to use me as I tell people about Him.
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power... 1Corinthians 2:4
Noah (3): A man who loved God
Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did. Genesis 6:22
Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him. Genesis 7:5
I was talking with some friends at work today about the subject of 'authority'. We live in a world where it is the accepted norm that so long as no one hurts anyone, everyone is able to believe, think, and act in whatever way they choose. The idea of having someone else telling you how to your life is supposedly crazy! Unyet this is exactly what being a Christian is all about. It is recognising that Jesus is king over our lives and that we are not. It is about living every day how God wants us to live, rather than how we want to live. It is the ultimate dictatorship!
But what makes this dictatorship different to that which we might experience in the world is that it is governed by love. Like a father instructs his children, because he knows what is best for them and he loves them, so it is with God. He instructs us not because He is on a power-trip, but because He loves us, and because He wants us to live in everything that He created us for.
I have realised so much recently that obeying God in the simplist of things is key to me living in all that He has for me. Obeying God is not a chore but a joy. It brings holiness, peace, and fulfillment. It enables me to soar in the purposes and plans that God has created me for.
There is a biblical truth seen within scripture that those who obey God are blessed. Take tithing for example, when we obey God in giving back to Him a tenth of all our income, God says that He will 'throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.' Malachi 3:10! I can see countless examples in my own life of when I have been abundantly blessed by God because I have simply obeyed Him.
To recognise God's authority but to disregard it in anyway is a great sin and is stupid. Ultimately it is not loving God and it stops us from living within the fullness of what God has for us. To obey God in every area of our life will indeed mean living a radical life. It will affect every decision we make, how we think, what we say, how we feel, who and what we listen to, what we watch, what we read, where we live, who our friends are, who we marry, what we do with our time.
I have been thinking a lot recently about the day when I will have to stand before God and give an account for how I have lived my life. Like Noah, I want to be able to say that I have obeyed God in everything, simply because I love him and I want to make him proud.
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. John 14:21
From the rising to the setting sun His love endures forever
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever!
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
And surely I am with you always , to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20
